Three Bean Salad

During the summer I love nothing more than having cool, tasty salads for dinner.

I especially love when the salad is so easy to assemble, like the Three Bean Salad.

1 - 15oz can of Garbanzo beans, drained
1 - 15 oz can of Cut Green Beans, drained
1 - 15 oz can of Red Kidney Beans, rinsed and drained
1 Small Red Onion, cut into 1/4" pieces

Add all of the beans into a large bowl.

Dressing:
 1/4 c Sugar
1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
1/2 Tsp Kosher Salt
Freshly Cracked Ground pepper

In a smaller bowl add all the ingredients for the dressing and mix well.

Pour the dressing over the beans and toss until the beans are coated well.

This salad is best when it has had some time to sit in the dressing in the fridge.

Here's a hint:
When you peel the red onion and cut into the onion and it's a bit strong place it in a bowl of cold ice water for a few minutes.  Let the onion dry out on a paper towel for a few minutes and the strong smell and taste should be minimal or disappear.

Enjoy your summer!

Team Spirit - Girl

The boys aren't the only ones with team spirit!

We've also created a girls version of Team Spirit!

This version is a little softer than the boys with and initial and a heart close to the bottom of the onesie, but if you like the look of the number on the boys onesie we can change that to personalize the piece for you.

Team Spirit for the girls has also been created with four specific colors, but if you have another color in mind let us create it for you.

Team Spirit in Purple

Team Spirit in Pink

Team Spirit in Gray

Team Spirit in Brown

Team Spirit - Boy

Who's team are you on?

Our newest piece to our Children's Art section is entitled, Team Spirit, and we think it is the perfect addition to your little mans nursery room.

We've created four colors to show the piece, but if you have another color in mind we can create this piece specifically to your taste.

Would you like a different number on the onesie?  No problem, we can change that for you too!

Strawberry Lemonade

3 Cups Water
2 Cups sugar
2 Cup Strawberries, hulled & sliced into quarters

3 - 5 Lemons to create:
3/4 Cup of Fresh Lemon Juice
Rind of one lemon, peeled

In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, add 3 cups of water.

Peel the rind from one lemon and juice your lemons

to make 3/4 cup of fresh lemon juice; set aside.

Add the lemon rind and sugar to your pot of water and bring it to a boil.

Boil for two more minutes.

Add one cup of strawberries to the sugar mixture.

The strawberries will begin to turn soft.

Take a wooden spoon and smash the strawberries
against the side of the pot to incorporate them into the sugar mixture.

Turn the heat down and simmer for two more minutes.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool.

Using a fine strainer; strain your sugar mixture into a pitcher.

Add the remaining cup of strawberries and pour the lemonade into a
pitcher and place in the refrigerator to chill.

My husband is a fan of strawberry lemonade,
which makes him a harsh critique,
and I am happy to say this recipe passed his test and I quote,

"Mmmm, this is REALLY good!"

Top it off with a sliced strawberry
and you will impress the thirsty masses of loved ones.

Flags

We are especially excited about our second release of our Children's Art appropriately called "Flags".

We love our neutral Flag piece.  It's a warm, wonderful piece that would fit well in your child's room.

Flags, by far, is going to be one of our most flexible pieces that can be customized to your tastes.

You don't see a color that appeals to you?  We can customize the flags and background to what you want.

Choose something a little more bold in color and it will surely catch anyone's eye.

Maybe a more softer color palette would be best for you to brighten your little mans room.

Not to be out done by the boys we also have a set for the girls too!

The pretty in pink is as tasty as cotton candy and will make your littler girls room stand out from all the rest.

Our next set of children's art is in the prettiest of purples and can be changed to a deeper purple to the lightest of purples to meet your needs.

If pastels are what you are looking for than look no further.

Resolutions - Update

Well, some of you know that I have been doing a financial Resolution to watch my money this year and I thought it was time to do an update.

These last few months I have had a great deal of success and I have amazed myself at how well I have taken on this task and actually enjoyed getting creative and what has surprised me most is the little time I have had to invest in making it happen.  Maybe I am one of those coupon ladies without the side of crazy.

Well, lets list the deals for the past two months that really have stood out for me.

In March:

We went to the movies for $10.75 and, yes, it was a night time showing.
     - We love the movie clubs!  Another FREE ticket.

I brought down my weekly grocery bill from $100 on average to about $80 a week.
     - Coupons and weekly buys.  Its not as hard as I thought.

We went to dinner for $11.00.
-Part birthday club and happy hour deals.  Drinks, two appetizers and two of the most amazing burgers, which we ended up bringing home, because we were full from the appetizers.

In April:

We saved $338 dollars on a bed we desperately needed.

-A no interest loan paid off within the deferred time allotted, but you have to be good about paying more than they ask on the bill to do this.

We went to dinner for $2.00.
-A survey discount, anniversary gift card and anniversary coupon.
-I used a receipt from a former visit, did their survey and received $5 off our next meal.
-We are FB fans and they sent us a coupon for two free appetizers for our anniversary.
     -We had a gift certificate.

After two drinks, two appetizers and two full dinners and all the above taken off we came away paying $2.00!

So, this kind of life really can be done.

Our grand total of savings for the last two months was around $550.75.

Three cheers for resolutions!
